Ray’s report on the Wonder Valley CSA 70 Meeting

This information is from a meeting Hawkins and I attended in Wonder Valley 5/28/09 regarding CSA 70 roads and recreation at the Wonder Valley community center.

Opening remarks were from Pam Vandervoort special districts regional manager. Discussed were issues of road maintenance and equipment they are trying to acquire.

Fire Department reps were there with stats and info and request for volunteers.

The current status of Ordinance 3973 that it remains unchanged regardless that supervisors Hansberger and Mitzelfelt agreed that it needed changes and would look into the matter of staging permits. Rumor is that third district field representative Bruce Davis and code enforcement officer Mike Romage have implied that the staging code is being enforced as if it read 10 vehicles rather than 10 persons. This may be true but it is of little consequence to what is right or written.

WHO ARE WE? We are a family oriented off-road group, dedicated to making better neighbors of ourselves, especially our youth. This is an area of concern to everyone and mitigating conflict between urbanization and recreation, we can successfully promote this tremendous outdoor sport to the benefit of all. It's a job that needs doing! With your help, we can do it.------- WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP? 1.Write letters to county and state representatives. 2. Be a responsible rider! Prove to the anti-OHV groups that we are safe, courteous and environmentally friendly. 3. Have legal and safe vehicles with spark arresters and quiet pipes (excessively loud vehicles are our worst enemies). 4. Drive slowly on dirt roads near homes/neighborhoods, people, animals and other vehicles. 5. Teach others to be respectful and responsible. Use common sense. 6. Be respectful to law and code enforcement officers. 7. Join Friends Of Giant Rock.
